Content making and life

Welcome back to weekend coffee chats, today we’re ranting a bit about content and life.

See every few weeks I’d miss a few uploads or in the summer I actually missed a few months buts that’s a topic for another day. Even though I enjoy writing this blog, things come up and I end up either delaying a post or skipping it altogether. First time that happened I felt quite guilty as I remembered the youtubers I watch and bloggers I read for, whom talked about being consistent for years, never missing an upload, and finding joy in the process even if no one watches or reads their stuff. So I thought I must be doing something wrong, but when I sat trying to force myself to write I just couldn’t do it. It eventually hit me, that perhaps their process gave them some personal time that they’ve enjoyed so much that they didn’t miss any days, however just cause it worked for them doesn’t mean its the only way forward or that it would work for me.

So I try to write, research, edit, and schedule in advance but if things come up then its ok. We all have responsibilities, days when our day jobs overwhelm us, when we get sick, or when someone we know gets sick and we’d rather spend time recharging or with others. It’s even ok as a reader having those same situations and missing posts.

I also noticed sometimes delays help as you find a new angel you didn’t think about before, or something comes up that adds a big advantage to your topic, and if you just pushed the post or thing you’re working on before you’d have missed out on adding it.

Another point I found I relate to differently, is whenever I get a like or follow from someone who’s enjoyed the posts on the blog it brings a smile to my face. It’s not that I sit and count them, but knowing there’s a few people enjoying this content pushes me to write more, so thank you to each and everyone reading this blog, I see you and appreciate you.
