Online newspapers, the endless struggle of accessing their content, and why it actually matters

To shake things up, as business professionals we’ve got multiple interests which sometimes span our industry’s and sometimes exceed them. In that spirit, this section is all about exploring and discussing those interests. So let us get started.

Can someone or a startup combine local newspaper and music sites/apps already ? I don’t want to have to pay for a newspaper I barely read, but that sometimes has important information. At the same time, I already pay for music, so shall we combine them already? Add 1$ to each music subscription and free the information which as residents of a certain city you need.

Another advantage of this, if that it can be a competitive advantage for smaller music apps. Giant music apps are wonderful (you know who) so why should a user use a local music app instead? Well if it had local newspaper and local artists, then probably users would be willing to pay for these local music apps, and keep a free subscription with the giants. Or the music giants will move first and offer a tailored subscription to local newspaper and artists depending on which country you’re registered in, on top of the international catalogue they already offer.

Whatever it is, let’s get this mess sorted, if someone is hurt or flights are cancelled where you live, then that information is important for public safety and shouldn’t be used as a clickbait to get people to subscribe. (You’d think I’m exaggerating but that’s literally the article I wanted to read ..)

If we even dig further, we’ll notice other industries can capitalize on this opportunity as well. Say online streaming networks? (again, you know who ..). It can be added as a layer; so even when not everyone will join, the 5% who would that don’t make a difference to this industry, could be the livelihood of the news industry.
