Beauty of the little things

As we all go through quite a difficult year, it’s been eye opening how important the little things that make our lives are (for me at least) and how in times of chronic stress that we cannot control (and barely manage) they can be anchors to making us feel ok.

So in that spirit, below is a list of things I’ve either been doing recently or trying to do more of, to feel a sense of joy and living rather than just getting by in these days. (All valid emotions though and as my sister says “you do you boo” )

  • A walk on the beach
  • Reading a book by the beach
  • Listening to music while watching the sunset change the sky’s colors. The view is average of buildings and a bit of sky as you see it from your own balcony which is in a humble neighborhood. The sky is Magnificat nevertheless.
  • Coffee
  • Flavored iced coffee on a sunny day
  • A car ride with a playlist that sounds like it’s the opening scene of a movie with the drone footage, palm trees, and main characters singing along on their road trip
  • Hot chocolate. Do I need to say more ?
  • Music that makes u feel 18 again and giddy with emotions and possibilities
  • Reading a book that puts a smile on your face (sorry I’m late; I didn’t want to come – loved this one)
  • Buying or making a gift for someone you care about
  • Home made pastries (strudel I’m still dreaming of you)
  • Beginners 10 mins yoga
  • Catching up with a friend (voice call, FaceTime; or even voice notes work)
  • A nap (yep I’m an adult that likes naps, it is what it is)
  • Walks (runs are still a work in process for me but if that’s your cup of tea then runs it is for you)
  • Novels (cause who doesn’t want to be in an imaginary world with shadow hunters or wizards rather than the dystopia we’re in right now ?)

Till next time 🙂 !
